Students reflect on the opportunity to network with alumni and explore job opportunities on their Career Trek

Career and Professional Development (CPD) recently hosted a Career Trek to New York from March 27 to March 29. The 30 students had the option of two separate career tracks catered to business and entertainment opportunities. This trip provided students the opportunity to network with LMU alumni, explore job opportunities and experience New York’s culture.

“It’s an opportunity for current students, undergraduate and graduate students to experience a new city — or familiar city, if they are from that area — and experience what it could be like to work and live there,” said Mandy Brockhaus (’16), associate director of events, promotions and creative professions at CPD. “We did company visits, we had an alumni networking mixer … The experience is helping the students discern a few things, such as if they see themselves living in [New York City] and if the companies and people we are hearing from would be something [students] are interested in for their career.”
